I'd guess 19th century celluloid buttons, but the size and picture of backs would help.

Grand Tour Intaglio perhaps resin cast 18th century

I believe these might be them. I included a picture of their backs that include their size.

What exactly is a "Grand Tour Intaglio" (if thats what they are)

bump - still looking for answers - based of my research I dont think its either of the suggestions above. They apear to either be made of clay or porcelain but I am not good at determining material types.
