Help identify bronse thing

I found this at the beach in the black sand cliffs where old bottles from the 1800s wash down after storms. It is heavy and only has that one hole

Could be a tip from a buggy pole, but the flat button looking piece makes me think it came from a leg of a fancy writing desk etc ?
