That second word doesn't look like supply to me - maybe ??ooley. What do the tiny letters below the word tokens say - looks like a maker's signature that may be a clue. Also, what is on the other side? Seldom do trade tokens carry the word "Token"...

I tried cleaning it with baking soda and dawn. Did not help. I have attached a picture of the back. I think the front might say Harwell Grocery Co. The back says Premium and I can't tell after that. The bottom says dishes and silverware.

Presuming Don is correct - and I believe he is - this type of token is typical of a promotion in the grocery whereby customers get one of these tokens with every x dollar purchase. The tokens would be accumulated and redeemed for dishes and silverware that would be on display in the store. I recall a local grocery ran that type of event here in the 1970s, except they went the cheaper route and gave tickets rather than metal tokens. Normally, the promotion would go for months at a time, allowing customers to obtain sets of the housewares. If I recall, they allowed people to add cash to the tokens or tickets to make the purchases, especially toward the end of the promotion.

I agree. I have tried to find information on Harwell Grocery, but to no avail. It was an interesting find. Thank you all for your help. This is the great thing about metal detecting. You never know what you may get find, and it is always an adventure.
