This button was found in Riverside Park in Baltimore.
It has 13 stars and the word "EXCELSIOR" around outer edge.

Was this a drop from an encampment during the Civil War or the Railroad riots of 1877?

Thanks, it is similar. Eagle on mine is facing left. Any idea of whether it's Civil War, pre- or post-?

I couldn't find a suitable match in Albert's book, but in Tice's book, on page 381, button 10 fits yours quite nicely. According to Mr. Tice, your button was made around 1860.

I prefer Albert's book because it covers a longer period of time, including some more modern buttons.
