Notice the birds in the OP post and the linked pictures in the reply's face different directions. Intentional to separate ranks, positions, groups? Or indication of a reproduction?

Need a little more digging. It does appear to be some type of Prussian (Imperial German) aviation badge, but there are several variations online. IronSpike's is close in general design, but has a solid back, and when you look at the backside image on his link, the pin is of a different style.

Chrisplay2004's badge also has the wrong pin, and the bird is not quite the same. It appears slimmer to me. Compare the thickness of the tail to the OP's. Not all the badges I've seen online have a flat back either, even though the front looks similar, adding to the confusion......

My bad, I guess the bird is facing the right way, is his head broken? Looks funny for some reason.

Here's one I thought was really close, until I saw the hollow backside..... listed as postwar 1920-1930's

Definitely WW1 German, they had so many different companies making medals and badges that you wouldn't believe that amount of variations out there.

You can contact the Wehrmacht awards forum, in their Imperial German section, and get it authenticated, and probably find out who made it.
