Found on Rice plantation, The button has "Gilt at the bottom but cannot make out the top word. Yes that is a Quarter and i didnt find it today lol

...we just had a snow storm of the century....took me 4 hours to get home....usually takes me 20 minutes......people dont know how to drive in snow,and dont have 4 wheel drive....I do,but was at their mercy....at any rate...I almost went out to look for a handle but its too cold!!!!
Those wooden hames are fairly common around here too. I must have 30 pair someplace! I'm starting to wonder if it was a maybe a drawer pull or one of those handles used for doors in the floor to access the cellar?As another reference. here's a horse hame I found in the woods
