Help, Great Seal Button Found

I recently found a Great Seal military button and have not been able to find any information on it.

The back of the button is stamped "W.&S. Lyon Co. New York"

Any info. would be very much appreciated!

That maker/dealer is not listed in my reference book. You might want to take pictures and post them in the following thread by Bigcypresshunter. The latest list can be found on page 23 and even it does not have the Lyon Co. backmark. Farther down the same page is a want list by Rockermike. He wants that backmark but is looking for one undug. He might be able to narrow down the date on it for you. I can tell you it falls between 1910 and present day. It was also a gilt overcoat size button. That would eliminate 1917-1923 when the buttons had a black finish.

The hat is from W. & S. Lyon Co. military supplies New York City.

Yes its a US Army Great Seal button. But with no manufacturers backmark, we have no way to date it. Its 1910 or after because that is when the rim was added. Many companies make Great Seal buttons without backmarks and they are still made today.
