Hey guys Im new here, I was just gona get some input on some things Ive found out in my parents pasture. So far Ive dug 2 spoons, lots of shotgun shell backs, 2 boyds genuine porcelain lined caps, lots of iron tools and whatnot, and a button that reads Finsk's Detroit Special. Im having trouble dating this stuff and was wondering if I may have stumbled into an old homesite, although there are no old foundations or structures standing in the area. Any help or thoughts would be great.

Welcome to Treasure-Net Hollywood, the things you are finding seem to be an indication of an 'old site', or possibly a dump site.
The foundation stones may have been removed if the area was ever farmed, therefore being harder to tell.
I would keep looking until you maybe get a better idea, there should be an old 'dug well', unless it was filled in.

Good Luck, Fossis..............

Hey Fossis thanks for the welcome and reply. Ill definately keep searching, everytime I go out I find more and more. Still lots of land to search. Ill keep ya posted. Thanks again

Welcome aboard! It's nice to see some more locals.

Most of the old homesites I hunt have no visible signs left. The only way I found them was by looking at old plat maps. I take the old plat maps, overlay them on to Google Earth, put the GPS coordinates in to my Garmin, then go to that spot and start swinging for hits. Sometimes those old plat maps are off a ways.

It sounds like you already have the spot found, though. My suggestion would be to find some old plat maps and see what might have been there in the past. It sounds like it could very easily be an old homesite.

I'll assume you're in Christian County. I have several old plat maps of Greene and Lawrence but none of Christian.

Hey guys after some research I found out that button that says Detroit Special is actually a work button off a pair of overalls. I found some adds for the overalls from the early 1900's. This ad was from 1914.
