Hunting turn of the century house site today and found horse tack, model T ford parts, 43 P & 45 P war nickels, and a what looks like a US bridal rosette. I'm not sure how to date it. The civil war, WW1, and WW2 rosettes look the same to me. It is 1 3/4 wide with steel back. The post is broke off but you can still see the nubs.

Nice finds you sure its a rosette

I'm pretty sure from the pics I've looked at. It had a square pin on the back just like a bridal rosette, but they all look the same to me.

Here's a link to another one that looks like yours. I can't tell if the bottom of the U on yours is rounded or not but that will determine the age.

Mine isn't round. It has the straight edges like the one you linked to. It can be frustrating to hunt in my neck of the woods. All of our land/deed records burnt in a courthouse fire in 1853. The oldest maps for this area are from 1928. Homesites you assume are from the turn of the century are likely built on top of colonial sites and the relics are mixed.
