Over the weekend me & a friend took our detectors and checked out a site we found on his new piece of woodland. It wasnt more than a squarish depression on a higher area of ground in the woods but the land looked as if it had been 'worked' long ago and we were curious. Dug a test hole in center & found bits of brick, pottery, ect. Started getting hits right off with the detectors, lots of square nails, metal and these artifacts in pics. Everthing was 6-10 inches deep. My earliest maps of the area that show dwellings is for 1867 and there are no homes here, as well as later ones show no buildings.

A round bell about the size of a baseball, a door lock, two flat? buttons, a buckle, a pewter 2 pice oil lamp cap and a round object thats a mystery, outer is made of lead, the center is another metal its alittle larger than a silver dollar with floral type design.
Needless to say we got pretty excited over our new unsearched site & plan to work it this summer. We are trying to get a more precise time frame, any input is welcome!
