I do know this is a post civil war button. By the direction the eagle is facing and the back Mark I think it could be from 1880-1940. Can the shank help narrow the date down? Back mark reads Jacob Reed’s Sons Phila.

Thank you in advance for any insight. Button was dug in a yard. 1A596B21-8D01-4DA1-BD48-51DEA70B5238.jpegA0B0F48D-B942-4EB7-B8B0-61F101C87C6F.jpeg

According to McGuinn and Bazelon's book on backmarks, he says the followings: "Jacob Reed (Reed's & Sons) Philadelphis, 2nd & Spruce & 918-922 Chestnut (1888). Firm was established in 1824 and lasted to 1980. Reed was a tailor who did a trade in Army & Navy goods. He was out of business in Oct. 1861 but reestablished after the Civil War & then succeeded by his sons. All known b/m's are post-CW with one exception." The exception was for an eagle A button c.1840's.
