These 2 buttons I found in North Central PA about 30 feet apart, the one looks like a dog to me, there's writing on the back but it's too far gone to read anything, it's 23 mm in diameter. The second is says "PLATED" in raised letters, its 24 mm in diameter. Any help dating these would be appreciated. Thanks.

PLATED, PLATE, PLATd, GILT, DOUBLE GILT are some of the earliest back marks on flat buttons and date to around 1800...... give or take a decade.
The dog "sporting button" would probably date to the mid 19th century.
Nice finds!
