NEW to Forum (this is cool!) and resuming the hobby
I bought a NEW Garrett Ultra GTA 350 a number of years ago, used it for only a few hours, and then put away for 12+ years. ( batteries removed!)
The problem.... it does not work like it did. The signal is very erratic, a lot of chatter, unreliable. I tried the reset per manual, and no improvement.
When I tap on the 8 1/2 inch Crossfire deepseeker coil it chatters, when I flex the cable ( grey ) where it enters the coil it chatters... so the cable / coil is bad right?
It has a five pin connector with a center pin.
So question one.....get a replacement coil and resurrect the old girl ($90 on ebay) (not sure the connector pinouts are the same)....or better off buying a new metal detector?
Additional Question ... I am competent at a soldering station, and can put the old connector on if I know the wiring for the pinouts. If I find a Crossfire deepseeker with different pinout arrangement can I change connectors? What about a Crossfire II?
