Detector(s) used
Tesoro Tiger Shark Fisher 1265X
I just bought my first detector yesterday. Today I found a quarter, a dime and 3 pennies (and several bottle caps) all new, but exciting! Now, you guys don't judge me too harshly as I am using a Fisher 1265-X, my buy at a yard sale for $20! But if I can convince the wife this is our thing I can upgrade! :) At any rate my Fisher is missing the sensitivity button (looks like it broke off), anybody know who or where I might find the switch? I have been inside the housing and it would be fairly easy to replace. Oh yeah, I am from FL and my finds were at Indian Rocks Beach and Passe-Grille beach, it was 89 today!

Welcome to Tnet, Kevino.

It sounds like you got a great deal on that detector. You'll have that baby paid off in no time at all. :)

Good luck!

Welcome Kevin!! Good luck with that whole wife thing... a tricky business from what I've heard... we all look forward to your finds! Of course, keep in mind that the IRS may be watching! :D Happy hunting!

K,

welcome to the board.

Nice finds. All I had my first time out were nails and
bottle caps.

Half the battle if you get the woman interested ;)

Welcome to the forum, and great finds. I used to have a Fisher 1265
and you know what, it is still a Great Detector. Set one side at 4 and the
other side around 6 or 7. When you get a signal pull the trigger and it will
check the item in the 6 or 7 side. If it is still good, it is GOOD. HAHA

If you get a signal in your headset, you are using a headset right, well
if the signal is really faint and steady, DIG it, it is something deep and
usually good.

Good Luck with your detector, I bet if you send an email to Fisher, they
would probably send you a write up on the Fisher 1265 and an instruction
book.

You've gotta start somewhere Kevino. You actually found something your first time out, which is more than can be said for some of us. Good job. Yes it was 89 today but tomorrow it's supposed to be 81 and I'll be out there.

Thanks to all of you! I have the operating manual for my 1265-X, but no head phones. Can I use any headphones (if the jack fits)? I have e-mailed Fisher and am waiting (of course I just bought it yesterday). I have heard/ read that Fisher was bought? I am thinking the old guy said he bought this particular detector in the 80's? But I could be wrong about that, at any rate it still seems to work relatively well.

kevino, Hello and welcome aboard! Great way to start, diggin' coins first time out..........I didn't dig a coin for God knows how long.....

Post your finds here, ask questions here, and keep at it!

Roger

Welcome to the forum Kevino. $20 dollars is certainly a good buy especially to see how much you might enjoy MDing. If you really find yourself loving Metal Detecting then I am sure that your wife will see it. If there are not any other concerns you will probably be getting a new detector. Just keep in mind one little thing. Do try your best to get her really involved. Hooked to MDing would be the best thing. Hate to see you get the new detector and find it missing cause of no time for her LoL. Joking about time for her of course. But it can sure be addictive at times. Perhaps you can pull out a diamond ring or gold rings down there in that wonderful weather. Then she will be hooked on you going :)
