Well here goes, I've been reading posts for a while. Treasure net has been around about as long as some of the sites I've been at so I figured I'd join.
I've been traipsing around the woods in my area for about 60 years doing forestry, surveying, hunting or just exploring. Found lots of interesting sites and now that I'm not working so much figure to do a little research and metal detecting at sites I have found in the past.
Old ferry sites, grist mills, towns that ceased to be or moved, located miles from a paved road. I've found them in the past now I would like to go back, map the locations of foundations, stone walls, roads, old fields, pastures etc. Metal detect the areas record the locations of items found. Check the registry of deeds and regestry of probate to learn about the people who lived there.
You guys know a lot and I'm sure I can learn from you, heck, I already have.
