I have a Whites SST and my 9 year old daughter just has a $60 generic from Amazon. It is surprisingly good at finding "stuff" it is a very accurate depth finder . I find that if I locate something with the SST I can go over it with hers and get a better idea if its on top or I have to dig.
I am here to learn about some locations and also any tips and tricks as I am new to the "Sport" and my kid and I have so much fun together doing it. I'm still learning my tones and how to ignore some things and dig for others, I still dig up almost any thing and my daughter still gets excited over bottle caps and nails.
It would be nice to find some cool things too. I'm counting on some of you to pass on some great techniques and tips for this old newbie.
Some history on me, I'm 47 y/o vet with a service connected disability rating of 60% mostly my back... former Paratrooper Infantry Medic, 82d Abn Div. I started late and have three young children, oldest is 9 middle one is 6 and youngest is still in mommy's belly not due until late August Early September.
Again, glad to be joining this community, and hope to absorb a lot of Info.
