Hello everyone. I'm relatively new to this site but have learned a lot. I stumbled onto this site when I was trying to learn tips for dumping zincolns. I've hand sorted about $125 of pennies and I suspect I'm grabbing about 15% copper. I also average about 10 wheats and 4 canadians per box. I think my copper % is lower than average but my take of wheats is par for the corse (odd since fewer coppers should mean fewer wheats?). I never thought I'd be a coin collector, but sorting has sparked an interest. I guess pocket change came in too slowly to develop into anything. I'm planning to buy a few Whitman books to keep my cents now.
All this talk here about 1/2's has me trying to expand into that (low volume though due to family obligations, work, and not wanting to tie up significant funds). Today I went to the babk to pick up my normal boxes of pennies for the next couple weeks and ask about getting halves. as it turns out, they had $402 in halves so i bouought them all. Well, I was skunked...
I thought since it wasn't an even $500 and some were loose, i had a good shot ar CWRs. well, instead they all said TD on them. I'm guessing this was another hunters initials? 2/3s were 1998's and 1/3 were 1994s. there were 2 rolls of other mixed yrs, but no silver. 2 bicentenials, which are unique to give kids that think the bicentenial quartes are cool, but no value.
I guess since i cleaned out the bank, this would be a good time to order more since i should hopefully get a fresh box?
Thanks for all the great knowledge you all share. hopefuly i can contribute as i learn.
