All Treasure Hunting
Hello all,

Brand new to metal detecting, in fact I just ordered my detector, hope to get it this week so next weekend I can test it out. I have read a bunch of the postings and am looking forward to my new hobby. What I really liked about many of the topics was the willingness of others to help/give advise others and mainly noobs like myself. :)

Welcome aboard Tim! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Virginia for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Thank you :)

You can let your Uncle know there is a ton of things to do in VB and the surrounding areas and he can expect warm to hot weather, yesterday was a perfect 72 and last Monday was 92. If he has allergies at all tell him to come prepared, because it's generally pretty bad for those people during the summer.

A few suggestions I have as far as things to see/do, the Norfolk Botanical Gardens is a beautiful place, you can walk or ride a free tram around the park. It is $10 per person to get in but you can stay all day and bring drinks and food, but there is also a restaurant and gift shop. Another one of my favorite places is the Virginia Marine Science Museum, which is another wonderful place to spend a day and most is inside so nice on a very hot or rainy day, I do not know the cost to get in now as it has been about a year since I went. The beaches are free and with a little travel time he could visit Colonial Williamsburg (about 45 minutes from VB) which is a wonderful historic site and is free to walk around and go in many of the buildings but you can also buy tickets to see more.

Hope this helps a little. :)

Hello and welcome to the site Tim!

I'm moving to Mechanicsville July 15th. Maybe I'll see you on the beach soon after.
