hunts with son

Just wanted to say hello and thanks to all for the great posts that provide great info.
Here is how I became interested in metal detecting. A few months ago my 7 year old son and I caught an episode of Diggers, he was instantly hooked, but I wasn't. So after a few more episodes he was askng for a detector. He had some Target gift cards left over from b-day gifts so I figured this would be a great way to help him learn the value of money. We ended up getting a Bounty Hunter Jr. When it arrived I was surpirised that the whole thing wasn't cheap plastic. The day after we got it we were going camping. The camp employees had no problem if he used the detector. First hit in about 20 seconds was a dime, then a quarter, then a piece of iron, then he finds a pull tab, etc, he was all smiles!!! We had a blast in that first hour, taking turns detecting, then digging, what a super father son time!
So long story short, this morning I pulled the trigger on a new Fisher F2 two coil package from Kellyco. (great company, the salesman, Steve, was very helpful and allowed me to substitute the knife for another digging tool for my son!)
We have access to some property from a good friend, it was a working farm up until the early 1900's, and in the 60's there was alot of "camping" in the field with tents, peace signs, and pipes LOL. So along with some questions, I hope to be posting some of the adventures that my son and I have.
Thanks!
