Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
I am a newbie to the hobby, as well as the site. I live and work in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, a city founded in the late 1600's by fur traders. This area is absolutely rich with history. I only have very basic detecting equipment, but they have certainly proven their value to me. My kids detect with me from time to time, and I usually have my good friend right there with me as well. I really look forward to 2018, and all the ground has to offer.

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Wisconsin for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Thank you for the direction vpnavy! I did as you suggested, and found more people to share with who are practically on my back doorstep!

Thanks all for the warm welcome! I love that my kids can sit with me and look at finds on this site and I don't have to worry about anything they see.

Welcome to the forum from Massachusetts!

Detecting with your kids...priceless! :occasion14:

Welcome from MI! I fish the Wisconsin driftless area just north of you and it is incredible!

Here's a pic of one of the streams...

Incredibly, my kids have only enhanced the experience. Not to say that I still detect more on my own than with them, as I mostly do during my lunch break from work. But when I do a weekend hunt, they are right there with me!

Yes, good guess! It's a section of the west fork...

I lived in Wauzeka for many years, right where it reaches the Wisconsin. One of the prettiest streams in the area!

Welcome to Tnet from an Ohio coin shooter. To some it's a hobby to others it is an obsession. Looking forward to seeing you post your future finds.

Thank you loco-digger. Looking at your albums, I see we share the same passion (obsession) for digging! Your finds are impressive!!

Welcome to the forum from Virginia! There is plenty of information available here and great people with a wealth of knowledge. Plenty of places to read and learn. Winter is a great time to do spring hunt research so you can figure out where you would like to hunt, any places that might be off limits and any that might be private property that you can possibly try to secure permission to hunt. And those around you may be planning group hunts. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!

Thank you dsdigger!! All great advice, and hopefully a way to pass the time since i can't dig for the next 3 months. Gotta say, the winter is going to be rough. I have really made metal detecting a part of my daily life.

Welcome to the forum!
I've done quite a bit of detecting in that region. Lots of old sites, and lots of history.
There used to be a detecting club there. I don't know if they are still active.
Happy Hunting!
