Hi, my name is John and I am a glass artist and have always had an interest in antiques.
No real specialty, I am attracted to objects that have been apart of the life of someone
In the past.
The image that comes to mind when comparing antiques with modern items is that antiques are like wood, full of layers and grain that reflect not only how they came into existence but also the markings that time has left on them.
While modern items are akin to Formica, flat, thin lacking any depth of character except for the simulate patterns printed on them. They are utterly lacking in any substance of life, as they actually have none, just being Hot of the processing and print line that just created them.
My mother passed away in 2017 and I inherited a bunch of antiques from her that I am still researching. when I was researching some WW1 medals that were my grandfathers, I came across treasure.net and am excited about getting some help identifying more things I inherited. Plus, looking for other antiques I might like to acquire.
I look forward to connecting with other members regarding my items but also sharing my knowledge of glass with others about glass objects they need to identify or have questions about.
Sincerely,
John aka Jw4792
