Hi everybody. Brand spanking new member from North Central Oklahoma. I always try to make it a habit to come on and introduce myself after joining a new forum, So here I am.
Just out of the blue one day last week I decided that I wanted to get into metal detecting. Granted I'm not in an area with a lot of history such as civil war artifacts/etc, but this area did have it's fair share of outlaws back in the day, along with those rough and rowdy oilfield workers that were (hopefully) always dropping silver change when fighting/working/stealing other peoples change etc.
I ordered a Garrett ace 250 with headphones and Lesche digging tool from Amazon, got the Garrett but still waiting on the Lesche. It only took about a day and a half of walking around digging up my yard to realize that even with the pinpoint function on the Ace 250, a pinpointer was going to make life much easier. I ordered the Garrett pro pointer and a Hori Hori tool (to use until I get my Lesche) yesterday off Amazon, got them today and WOW, the pinpointer really DOES make a dramatic difference in recovery time, not to mention much less digging.
Anyway, I just wanted to give a hello and quick overview of how I got here and where I'm at right now. I'm sure I will be full of questions as time goes on. One of my friends couldn't stand it when I told him I ordered a metal detecter, so he ordered a bounty hunter, which he is still waiting on. My stepdad is getting excited by my excitement and is wanting to do some detecting, so I ordered him another Ace 250 and Pro Pointer tonight for an early Christmas present. Hopefully we will all have a blast and not lose our excitement in this great hobby.
