Greetings To All:
I am having my 50th here in a few weeks, and my wife has been asking me what I wanted for my birthday. She had planned on having friends and family celebrate at a restaurant, that would cost a lot of dough! So, I got to thinking, I've always wanted a metal detector. I've been tooling around on a few of the websites. Watched a lot of YouTube video from Garrett and picked up a few books. I like Michael Chaplan's book, "The Urban Treasure Hunter" since I live only 30 minutes outside of New York City it only seems to be a natural fit and Mr Capman gives some very good advice. Now I just need a detector. I am considering the Garrett AT Pro. I am open to suggestions, I will be using it to detect (old) coins and so on, but a diamond ring every now and again would not hurt
I must say, when I told my wife what I wanted to do, she laughed in my face. She thought it was a joke, but from the galleries that I have seen this hobby is truly archeological and historical in nature.
Well, I just wanted to give a quick shout out, and say hello to everybody. Cheers to all.
