Hello to everyone,
I'm excited to have found this site and join. I love discovering anything, any treasure, from the past. I have a few things myself that I often wonder what it was for, what the significance is etc.
Could anyone tell me what this pin is for ? My Dad served in the Navy WWII, his last name began with an "E" so I assume it was something of his from the Navy, but for what would he have received it ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank You

Welcome from the shores of Lake Champlain:hello: Wish I could be of more help with your keepsake, but someone here will certainly help you. HH

just did a little looking on google. found an award with the e surrounded by the wreath, but not the side things. it was an award for crews on ships who got an award.
I highly doubt the military ever puts anyones initials on one

any markings on the back?

Nice find tonyc10k. Depending on when your Dad served, it was awarded to him during World War II. It represents the Navy "E" Award (Excellence) Award. Now, if you want to know WHY your Dad got the award - see if you can find a copy of his DD-214 (Discharge Certificate). That puppy will have all his awards, etc. If you can't find it - jump over to DD-214 Request and request a copy of his Military Service Record. Hope this helps...
