I have played with cheap metal detectors and now I am wanting to take this interest to the next level and get a quality detector. I started doing research on what to get and just managed to confuse myself with all the choices. My very max budget is $400. I am hoping I can get a decent unit for that price that will work. I would like to have something that is universal for various types of detecting. Any hep would be very much appreciated.
Thank you

Hello Jdan, Welcome to the forum.

I’m new also.

I got a Garrett Ace 250 a couple of weeks ago and I’m very happy with it. You can get a Garrett Pro Pinpointer while your at it and still come in under $400.

The Ace 250 is nice and easy MD to use. Water on the coil will not hurt it, but some type of water-proof cover (zip lock sandwich bag) will be need for the control box if you want to hunt the water’s edge.

Thank you for the advise. There are so many choices out there and it's worse when your new and on a budget.
