Detector(s) used
ETrac and AT Pro
Primary Interest:
Metal Detecting
Been detecting for about 3 years now, own an AT Pro (my first purchased) and an Etrac which I won in a raffle. Have a few different coils for each, but mainly use the etrac these days. Still feel kind of exposed when using it, as sometimes I hobble myself with discrimination. Really trying to understand the sensitivity versus manual mode and when to use tone changes. I hope to learn more from this group for the coming season.

Welcome Aboard! Take a look at Forum:Michigan for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome from Michigan, should be able to any question answered here for that machine...

Another welcome from a fellow Michigander. I typically hunt in the auto +3 sensitivity mode and check what the sensitivity number is after my initial Noise Cancel. If I see that the sensitivity number has been reduced by two or three numbers after detecting for a while, I will do another Noise Cancel to bring it back up.

Have you loaded the free E-TRAC Emulator software? If not, check out The Beep Goes On.

I have, and a few of the other tools out there for it. I guess visually the indicator fools me a bit, as I understand the AT's face, the bars on the etrac are a bit confusing. I use Disc a lot but modes I need some work on. I have Andy S book and even took his class. We hunted a few times here in Michigan and I learned a lot! But after winter I feel new again!

My kids live in SE Michigan..... Some years ago I drove up and took one of Andy Sabishes' classes near Monroe for the Etrac. Enjoyed it immensely, worth the time....

And, I got to see my kids :)

You've found a great place for information and fellow treasure hunters of all kinds -- welcome aboard mate!
