Welcome to what will become a thrilling obsession for you !.....LOL. Just kidding, it is very fun though. I am new also( just started late summer) and I bought a Bounty Hunter Elite 2200 at SAMS club with headphones included for $100. It has turned out to be a very good first detector especially for the price. Only thing I wish it had is a numeric readout like a lot of the other detectors have. I'm hoping to step up to a AT Pro early this spring(about $600). There are better detectors I'm told but most say the AT Pro is about as good as it gets for the price. My advice for what its worth is READ everything you can about the detectors that are in your spending budget and make sure the detector is right for the kind of hunting you plan on doing. If you planning on going near or in water then be sure to get one that is capable of getting wet which can be a handy thing especially if detecting in the rain is something your not afraid to do. Hope this helps and happy hunting........David P.S. Please be sure to become familiar with the metal detectors/relic hunters code of ethics and follow them.

Welcome aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Indiana for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome Karla! I use a cheap Bounty Hunter Tracker IV. It serves me well and someday I will upgrade. Above all have fun!

Detector avators 2014 #2.webpWelcome to the forum. Tesoro, Fisher's, Bounty Hunter. All are light. Depends on the Moo-La. As a side note. The small coils will lighten the load too. Good luck.

Welcome Karla! Good luck to you!!!

Welcome, Karla! Take a look at the Garrett Ace Series or Fisher F2 - they are very affordable units with great features.
