Hi all, new guy here from Germany. I am located Bavaria, and just got my first detector. I have a Fisher F2 with a regular coil and a sniper coil, a hori-hori and trowel, and a Garrett Pro-Pin-pointy thingy. Never detected before but hopefully I am ready to get out there. I am a mountain biker, and geo-cacher. In my travels on my bike, I have come across a few locals metal detecting on the trails. I have also come across a few old cellars, abandoned home-sites, places in the woods where by all reasoning, there should be trees, but aren't any, and quite a few shrines in the middle of nowhere. I thought to myself, I wonder whats out here. So, I ordered my first detector. My first detecting outing will be next week sometime, and I am dying to try it out. I have an 11yr old son who already declared his intent to accompany me, and laid clam to my new toys, so I may need to get a second detector, but first I want to make sure I enjoy it. Anyway, that's my story and i am sticking to it. Thanks for listening.

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: Germany for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Good advice. Luckily where I am stationed uxo is not really a big issue, Bamberg was pretty spared from bombing during the war, but it always pays to use an abundance of caution.

Welcome from So Cal, HH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:hello:

Welcome haymitch from Northern California! A word of advice, it is ever so helpful to understand the detector before going far from home, or in other words practice with the machine really makes a difference. I wish you and your son the best of luck with your new found hobby as it sounds like you have some great places to detect..................63bkpkr
