When the shell explodes only the base came out leaving a hollow case. This is one of them. You can take them home to display if Youre strong enough to carry such a heavy piece of iron for miles through the woods. :laughing7:

Please do not post pictures of skulls or the bone remains of soldiers (or civilians), regardless of which side of the conflict they fought.

Hi Stefen, its not very common to find remains in our area, though it happens...

This is a cross, welded together from splinters, on a place the remains of an american soldier were found in 2008.

A belated hello, Lou. Be careful with munitions you find, as you probably already know. I think you're probably the kind of guy who would treat any human remains you might come across with dignity and respect.

Hello, Lou.

Germany is a beautiful country. We lived there from 1982 to 1985 in Moerfelden. I wish I had a metal detector back then. Can't wait to see more of what you find. Best of Luck to You!!!

Thanks to all! i dug a german pickaxe near a german trench two weeks ago. Then a pic from a two hour hunt last sunday and one from me and my australian cattle dog helping me to dig .

Schoenen Wilkommen.
Love the pictures and hope you post more of your finds. I lived in Pirmesans, Karlsruhe and Germersheim. I didnt treasure hunt but my Uncle did and he found lots of cool items. One thing he found was some kind of huge viking ring of some sort, at least that is what he said it was. Had a big ivory stone on it. Cant remember too much since the last time I saw it was about 20 years ago.
Hope to see more!!
Tschuse.

Hallowed ground! Tnx. TTC

Welcome to Mug-Shots, I just talked to an Old Veteran who was wounded twice in WW11, one of the times was at the Battle of The Bulge.
