All Treasure Hunting
Not sure what to say really, but hello! I've been into metal detecting and other sorts of treasure hunting for a few years now. About three, I suppose, since I'm 19 now and I think I only got into it once I could drive. I haven't had a chance to get out much since starting college last fall (since I have been here, I have only put about 20 minutes into detecting and found a grand total of one 1965 penny.) but I have actually had some good luck just around town without a detector. I know several old roadside dumps that are full of bottles. Currently I only have one Mountain Dew 16oz glass one, because all of the other intact ones were beer or unlabeled, and alcohol isn't allowed in campus housing, so I didn't want to openly display a collection of empty beer bottles. :P Also, there is a trail paved over an old railroad, and I noticed at one point there is a bridge over a small creek that has eroded the ground below the tracks, exposing a large section... so I also have a couple railroad spikes, but those are just because they're neat, really.
Hmm... I guess that's about it. Oh, also, it says I live in Statesboro, but that's just during school. Home for me is actually just outside of Atlanta. So I get a pretty great balance between rural and urban sites, as well as quick access to historic areas like Savannah and Stone Mountain. Also, I'm pretty much smack in the middle of Dahlonega and Chamblee, which any other Georgians may recognize as essentially massive antique malls and thrift shops that have taken over entire cities. It's a pretty great place to be for this kind of stuff. :D

Also, you're awesome if you understood my username without looking it up.

sorry I missed you at first ages, nice to have you with us. jump in and have fun- need anything just pm JeffofPa

Welcome aboard! Take a look at Sub-Forums: Georgia for information (i.e., clubs, etc.) directly related to your state.

greetings. you could possibly find confederate items there in yards and fairgrounds there

Yeah, I've been hoping to find something from the civil war. No luck so far, but I would love to find a bullet that had been dropped rather than fired.

Welcome from Birmingham, Alabama. This is a great place to learn about and share safe, effective treasure hunting tips and tricks. Good luck and we look forward to seeing your cool finds.

I am not awesome!

Heheh, you guys, I'm not saying that's the ONLY way to be awesome. :p I'm sure you're all pretty cool regardless.

Welcome..
I think i'm missing something with this (awesome thing)

Anyway it seems you have the relic hunting , bottle collecting , Antiques bug pretty bad.

IMO It's kinda dumb that you might get in trouble for displaying OLD beer bottles but thats cool.

I,m not some nut lol, but if you like older Coke bottles I have several returnable ones from the 70's most from diff, bottlers across the country , even Statesboro Ga ,if I recall correctly ( 20 +) that I picked up some where.
I really don't have a space to Display them [ so there in a box in the attic]
I would be happy to give them to you , as I believe you will appreciate their history.
If you want them (p.m. me and next time your in town, I live in/ near Marietta)
we can meet (in public of course, with your parents if you like) and you can have them.
If not thats ok to . I also have a few Liter style ones ill throw in.

Welcome to the Site & Good luck in the future.

That would be awesome! I would feel pretty bad just taking them off your hands for nothing, though.

As for the awesome thing, it's one of the engines from the first-generation Toyota MR2, as well as a couple other cars. The MR2 is just my favorite thing in the world. Not just cars, but things. All things. It is the greatest thing. :P

Welcome from N. Mississippi. Are you sure you didn't know what to say? Joke.:laughing7:

Welcome !!!! Look on ebay tons of reproduction maps from CW era for sale Don't buy them just look at them in zoom and see if you can find any lines of march noted in your area , then go from there Always remember that the Lines were very fluid and search to the left and right a few thousand yards ----- Also look up Georgia historical markers , They are usually close to were an event took place and again expand out Good Luck

Sweet /(Awesome ) ride ;I have not seen one of those cars in years.

And the bottles , No problem ,I just don't have any space for them & would be glad to give them to someone who will enjoy them.

Unfortunately it's not. I had to sell my first and only car to help pay for college, but I plan on getting one of these in either white, light blue, silver, or red as soon as I graduate.

If you're curious, though, this is my [former] car, a 1988 Mustang LX:

It had a tiny 4-cylinder engine with only about 90hp brand new, so it was pretty slow. Pretty much what you would expect to get from a $600 car, although luckily I was able to sell it for $800 even after I broke the starter, so it all worked out in the end.

Well, thanks again then! I'll definitely keep it in mind, although I'm not sure if/when I would even be able to get them.
