I have been Metal detecting for about 10 years. I do a variety of types of detecting though about 70 percent relic and coin hunting and 30 percent prospecting. I am currently using a Goldbug 2 and a garret 250. I do about 2 hours a day metal detecting after work and one 1/2 day on the weekend which is usually prospecting.
I am more of a nerdy type metal detecting person as I like to research on Detecting sites by digging through old logs and diary's at our local library and trying to discover good places to hunt by scouring through these writing and seeing where good sites might be located presently.
I discovered this site while looking for a new Metal detector the vendor recommended your site as a great source of information.

The only thing I have change and just recently is being very systematic with gridding, mapping and keeping track of items by age on my cursory scans locations before I start the real detecting portion of a hunt.
