Hello all, Yes I'm new to Metal Detecting, but not new to life, as I am 64yrs of age Retired, and starting to go back mentally, and physically to places I remember from my youth. I live in the city that once was called Mudville, the home of a little folk lore known as, "The Mighty Casey", and also the Mudville Nine.

OK! enough of the folk lore. I just started detecting, I purchased the Garrett AT Pro metal detector. I thought it would be a good detector to start off with, especially after all the hours I've put towards researching metal detectors. laff laff My first day out was around my own home/yard for about an hour, , I was kinda hoping just to learn how to dial in the AT Pro, Wow I found some 60's pennies at 4 inches deep, that was cool. Second day in my yard with the AT Pro, more pennies, some old pieces of copper wire that no doubt are from when the house was built back in 1946, the depth I'm hitting targets is about 4 to 6 inches, then all of a sudden I get a hit at 10 inches, Wow! I dig down and find a WW1 Military button, Waterbury Button Co, Conn. OMG! I think I'm hooked. My first relic found in my own yard, Yeah I'm hooked for sure.

I believe if it's down there, we all have a chance of finding it. Thanks and Happy hunting to all.

You might consider browsing Sub-Forums: California for information (i.e., clubs, hunts, finds, legends, maps, etc.) directly related to your state.

Welcome aboard,:hello: from the swamplands of Louisiana

But there is no joy in Mudville - mighty Casey has struck out.

Welcome Ken from a dirt fishing Gal from Georgia! Sounds like you are off and running in your own backyard! Make sure you post some photos! We want to see what all you are digging up! That just goes to show you 1. You can build up your confidence level while getting plenty of experience in your own yard and 2. You may not even have to leave your yard to find a gold mine! Dig on!

Welcome Ken.

Yep... i remember that , Mighty Casey at the Bat.

First search your own property then go from there.

Happy hunting !
