Just wanted to say hi. Found you all when I was trying to find information on Indian games pieces - as I found what I believe are games sets carved from bone.
Funny thing, when I was walking on the beach, this large boulder fell out of the cliff and landed at my feet. So, I went and got my little set of 'wheels' from my car, and brought this 'boulder' home.
When it dried, it fell apart...Inside of this mud ball boulder were all of these carved pieces of bone. Absolutely blew me away. The carvings are profiles a Chief's head, a younger Indian, and several types of animals.
The sizes range from about 1 inch to approx. 5 inches.
I'll post a picture in the appropriate place.
Anyways - I have been a 'rock hound' for a long, long time, lately it seems as tho all of my rock findings are ancient stone tools with carvings on them. A bummer in a way, because I feel a sense of obligation to them, and can't just 'throw' them in the yard - so I have boxes of these things cluttering up my house...sigh...haven't got a clue on what to do with them. Already tried the obvious channels...
