HELLO EVERYONE!

Welcome! Glad you decided to join us here on TNet. I don't live in your state, but when it comes to treasure hunting I figure we're all neighbors in a way.

PS, if you are truly concerned about spelling, you can try the user-friendly spellcheck option found at the bottom of your posting screen. When you click "reply" or when you create a new thread, just scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see it. It's easy!

Great to have you with us, MIAKINBACK... I think you're gonna like it here!

Welcome to the forum M - hope to see some of your finds soon. Good luck and HH/NS!

I did a mapquest search and found 4 different towns in Indiana named Salem.

I live in Muncie but often visit my grandparents down in Nashville / Brown County and usually have my detector with me but I'm not too familiar of the area or where to go when I'm down there.

Best of luck to ya!

Welcome aboard. Glad to have you with us. This is an awesome site.
Look forward to pics of your finds.

Welcome aboard Miakinback. You must be on the border of Kentucky and Indiana huh? This is a good site for information and the folks here are the best.

Thanks for the replies everyone.....sounds like a very friendly site. As for being able to post pics, I am not set up for that unfortunately.....but, will be happy to relate in words some of my finds in the near future.....although not much to report that would impress anyone really.....i guess my best find to me was a shield five cent piece not sure of the date as it was very encrusted......my understanding they were only made in the 1860's to 70's......i have been soaking it in olive oil for quite some time with little impact i am afraid........as to where Salem, in. is.......MY Salem is in Washington county and is about 32 miles north of Louisville, Ky........so maybe come this spring any of you fairly close might find the time to meet down here for a hunt......i am currently researching a couple of forgotten picnic groves from 1800's and another very interesting site that was a very big political gathering in a grove in the 1800's.......just a mile down the road from me is a farm that from the early 1900's to around 1935 or so was the site of horse racing and later car racing.....the farmer allows very little rest time in the field so hunting opportunities are very short but, a few old coins have been recovered there.....I hope to really hit this site come spring......well catch you all later.
