I'm curious about this. Man-made or natural? If its natural what could have caused it. Thanks in advance from a newbie.

Oh my! those are asbestos shingles? We had those as siding on the house I grew up in and when it was replaced later, there was a whole pile of them out back and me and my friends would throw them at eachother , pretending they were Chinese stars.. yikes!

asbestos is a bit misunderstood.....yes airborne fibers are dangerous over time and in concentration....but holding that in your hand is as dangerous as a piece of lead of similar size...which you also wouldn't lick.
