Hello All. New to Treasurenet From NC

Heloo everyone, I am new to treasurenet, I live in Granite Quarry, NC. I have been a long time gold panner and am delving into the world of metal detecting. I have recently been researching the New Bern Gold that was buried in Salisbury, NC just before the civile war. It is a interesting story and I think I have zoned in on where it all happened. I searched the site yesterday and found a 3" tip of a civil war sabre in the creek. If you know the story you know that Union soldiers found the gold and silver in the sand and muck while pushing their sabres into the ground, my thoughts are that they may have broke off the tip while searching. If anyone has any other info on this story, I can always use the help. If there are interested parties out there in my area, the more help the better.
