Heel Plate?

Found this Heel Plate? today. It's iron and appears to have had an inlay of something inside. Found about 6" deep in old 1870's mining town. 3" wide and 3" long. Can any of you shed any light on this? Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Chris, I've searched but couldn't find a heel plate like yours. The one pictured below is as close as I could come to matching it.
