I went on a short hunt after work to a site where they had just demolished the foundation of a building built in the 1880s. I found a bunch of junk as usual, a modern penny and what I believe is a small boot heel plate. I have only seen these on other people's posts. Do you think my guess is correct? Any guess on age? Obviously I cleaned it up. Electrolysis. Thanks for looking!

Yes, heel plate. Hard to say on age? 19th century likely.and probably civilian. Still good find!!
We look for these in CW sites..I've only found one.

Pretty eye opening when you realize that that "small",plate actually was likely on a "Normal",sized foot, for back then!

I have hunted 30 years now and never found the first one. Definitely on my bucket list. Nice find by the way.
