POTTSVILLE – Heavy rain caused flooded streets and basements throughout Schuylkill County on Sunday.
“We were inundated here,” Pottsville Fire Chief James E. Misstishin Sr. said.
The National Weather Service, State College, issued a flash flood warning Sunday afternoon. Paul Head, a meteorologist with the NWS, State College, said radar estimates show between 1.9 to 2.8 inches of rain fell, with additional heavy rain possibly occurring after midnight.
Parts of Schuylkill County hit with flooding problems included Pottsville, Frackville, Gilberton, Minersville, Cass Township, Norwegian Township and Tremont.
