Please forgive me if this is verbotten, but I'm very new here and posted this (the link below "What the...") in my state (MA) only later to realize that THIS would probably be best.

Can you help? I'm STUMPED as to what these things are that I pulled from a trail on an old RR bed. They're HEAVY metal. Just darned if I know what they are! I included one pic below of the three of them and promise the individual, closer-up pics at the link below are not so blurry.

Very difficult to tell. They could be from almost anything. The curved piece could be cast iron from a stove. Broken stoves are a common find. The thin curved piece could be a bail from a kettle. There could be a dozen guesses and all could be wrong.

Can't help with the ID. If these were found on RR property, you have them illegally. Unless the rail (abandoned or otherwise) has been given to the state for the "rails to trails" program, you are trespassing. The railroad can and will prosecute if you are caught on their property. You stand to lose your detector, supplies, finds, possibly your car (if you have any finds in it); you will be given a stiff fine and possible jail time. I am not trying to alarm you, but the Old Colony RR (or any other RR) is not who you want to mess around with. Just want to give you the heads up. It's not worth the risk if you ask me.

I also want to invite you to check out the group "The Women of TreasureNet".

P.S. I have relatives in Green Harbor right on the beach. I lived in Quincy for 32 years, now in New Hampshire.

It's "rails to trails" town owned land. Thanks for the warning, though. I'm trying to be a good doobie!
