Found this digging in my back yard. House has been here since 1854. It measures 4" tall x 1.5" wide. looks like the top was round at one time. There is a name on it but hard to read. TRE--X-? Weight is 8.5 ozs. I'am stumped...
Wondering if it might not be some kind of ornate handle from a cranking mechanism. The top picture appears to show circular wearing and "wallowing" like might be expected from a well worn crank handle that had a metal washer and metal brad holding it to a shaft..
I googled trebex just for the heck of it and that's the name of a watch maker. Maybe they made clocks and maybe that's a weight from one of the clocks.
