Hi folks,

I found this today. It is my top heartbreaker for 2021 so far. I do think Atlantic Speartip, but I get an older vibe from it for some reason. It really kills me to find one like this. Almost wish I didnt come across it. I am going to sift the surrounding area when I get a chance for other peice.

Something this large may be steped on. Break did look old though. Ugh. Anyway, here it is
Thanks for the peek

When terminal archaic (broadpoints) up through Adenas are broken that way, that they were ceremonially killed is what I assume, FWIW.

I consider it a great find, even in the condition it is in! Thanks for sharing.

I have others like this. Will upload a few pics shortly. Woah that's not excepted. Here's another for now. However, I have one that tops the rest I found. Need to dig it out.

I will upload the one I am talking about soon. It's not this one

Still a cool find!! I think uniface is right. Years ago I found a couple of huge brokes. An older collector told me they were sacrificial points.

Big points break, very hard to find one intact. That is what makes them special. I don't know if they were broken while in use, or ceremony breaks or how in the world could one know? Interesting. That is a heart breaker for sure.

Ceremonial Pieces. Oversized and broken. I believe I have one. I can’t make out secondary flaking, but they may be there.
Eliminating a manufacturing failure.

You know it’s ceremonial if it’s found with a burial.

Cheer up, finding the other half is always a possibility !

I find some people I talk to, who I do not disclose exact location, uses the grave robber argument, so I disclose location. Not falling for that.

I actually spoke to two archeologist, wanted input on a couple pieces a while back. They provided wrong info because I didnt want to disclose exact location, then proceeded to mutter the words grave robber.

That's the oldest trick in the book to get someone to disclose exact location. I am proud of each and everyone of my peices.
