Walked one of my little creeks in Baltimore. Long day of following someone's footprints. It used to be I was the only one who knew this stream had artifacts in it. Makes me wonder if it was something I did or said that drew someone else to this site. Everything I found was missing the base. Grey flint piece was the find of the day. Exotic material for maryland since we usually find quartz and rhyolite. Very thin and well made. The points that come out if this site are made alot better then the points from a county over. Thinking Kirk corner notch on the grey piece because of all the edge work.

Good finds:icon_thumleft:Sometimes if someone hunts artifacts all they have to see is a creek or your car sitting in a area. But they can't find them all, you just have to beat them to the walk.

I know people that are doing nothing but walking creeks and with tough times more are doing it. You saved a few, HH rock

I still have fields to walk but they have been hit or miss. The other day it was 5 in an hour and the next day 2 in 4 hours. Plus as wet as it is the mud can get very frustrating after a while. The guy that had walked the creek before me wasn't checking in the water. Looks like he was just checking the bars so at least he didn't get them all.

More and more people are out looking every year, stinks. On the one hand, it's nice that there are people interested and find the hobby something they can enjoy BUT sadly, many of the newcomers are simply out there trying to turn a buck.

Cool finds, too bad that black tip piece isn't all there, would love to have seen it whole!

Good seeing you out Ben. I wanted to tell you that I went to get that flint this winter and the gorge had washed out and was full of debri. It will take me a little longer and I was hunting at the time. Good news is I met a local Geologist who has told me of out croppings near of assorted materials.

That's awesome TN. Just let me know. Hope the last few months have been good ya ya.

Cool finds bsit1361 ! I love the knapping on the grey flint piece, the views in your hand make it look like an intact large triangle. Strange how so many of the large Kirks have a "snapped base". Some say they were made that way, others say it is a result of how they used them as knives in a twisting or levering fashion ?? I like that yellowish/goldish quartzite material too, looks like a really sharp tip on that one as well. I used to live in Harford County, and it seems like I spent half my youth wading, swimming, and fishing in Bynums Run and James Run, and never even thought about looking for arrowheads in the creeks. I'm sure they were there, and still are, because we found a lot of them in the fields adjacent to the creeks.

That's a sweet point high fives on that find ;)

Cool! :icon_thumleft: Still awesome finds and some pretty flaking.

Yep real good. Stuffed the freezers with venison.:occasion14:

Great! We just made bacon wrapped BBQ backstraps. And they were delicious.
