Got a 18 on the equinox , popped a plug stuck the pointer in the hole and it is rust . Wait a minute . My equinox does not find rust . WTH .......So I go to put the plug back and look at my shovel and there is my 18 stuck in the mud . It says 150th anniversary 1748-1898 pioneer home Reading , PA .

as far as what it is.... it's a souvenir pin. It originally hung from a loop attached to either a pin bar or a ribbon, and worn kinda like a medal. These kind of souvenir pins were very popular for different celebrations and milestone events from about 1895 to around 1915. I can't find any info on it either, so I'm not sure if the home still exists today.

I agree with jewelerguy. Though I might add that I don't believe the "pioneers home" is any one particular house. I believe the log cabin is a generalized image of a "pioneers home" of the day when the town was founded. That was after I read this- Here is all you wanted to know about Reading Pa. and then some...
