Heart found at 1890's home

I found a heart shaped piece of metal I suspect was either a piece of jewelry or ribbon at one time. It appears to be painted black, but missing quite a bit of paint. A magnet won't stick to it. It appears to be made of stamped metal. On the front there appears to be a very small pearl (like 1mm), stone, or different type of metal protruding about 1/3 of the way down and 1/4 from the right side.

When looking at the back, it links like there was something glued. This area that looks like its glued is wider left to right and much smaller top to bottom. From this glued area, I suspect a pin may have been glued to the back, but there isn't any glue residue.

Also on the back on the top, it looks like there may have been a bit more to the top that is now missing. At the top by the middle there is a couple of small notches where the meat in the middle may have been sheared off. Just kind of an oddity. May have been a loop that was cut off at one time or just some type of tab something latched to.

Most striking to me is the shape. It's not quite as rounded as most hearts you see today. The shape looks older to me.

Overall the haert is approx. 1 7/16" wide and 1 5/8" tall.

What do you think? Crumby cheap jewelry (broach, locket, etc.) or some type of old medal/ button?
oh and the round thing I found at another sight. Magnet sticks to it. Looks like its rusted. It's 11/16" diameter. On one end theirs a little round discoloration that may be a sprue or attachment point. I'm thinking it might be a cracker for a bell.

It looks like costume jewelry, although I have seen similar rivets on children's clothes.
