heard there was old ghost town in potter co

Been a lot of years since I did detecting up thata way but I remember detecting a ghost town somewhere in that vicinity.
If you can find the old County by County Atlas of Pennsylvania that was printed somewhere around the mid 60's, it still listed several towns in Potter that no longer exist.
I had a copy and haven't been able to find another. Mine got lost in a move somewhere. You might try the old topo maps.

town was called Mina, the post office closed in 1909. just a few houses , and lots of old foundations left.Probably would be a great area to MD .Someplace i have an old pic of the town ( at it's peak)if i can find it i will post it .

That sounds like it Gods country girl. And if I remember correctly, all of it was posted "Private Property". Some lumbering company apparently bought all the land. And yes, there were foundations all over. I remember finding a small trophy along one. Maybe some kids baseball award. I think it was just pot metal, but a neat find.
At the time, I remember thinking that the lumber company bought the land for a private hunting ground. Was one of those..."judgement calls" whether to trespass or not. Middle of the woods????
Was a dirt road at the time to get there. A lot of time has passed.

You're right about the place being called "Mina". It's along route six. I know the owner of the property, and I know some other people who have detected at the site, but knowing them they weren't as ambitious as some of us detectors. If anyone is interested, I can locate some old pics of some of the old buildings that were there and help anyone out who wants to detect the area.

i cannot find my pic of mina, will you please post yours?
