Heading to Northern GA

So I have some vacation time to burn up. In addition to seeing my daughter in NC, my wife and I thought to do some prospecting in N GA. Any tips for a first time GA prospector and GPAA member?

Auraria and a radius North and West to Georgia 9 / East to 19
and South to the county line . Lots of good little places to do
some panning if you don't mind humping your stuff a little and
a rough road here and there . I can tell ya first hand there is
good gold in that area . Be sure and take a pick axe and rake
along and pay attention to stuff above the high line . Good Luck .

Is this public land?

Lake Allatoona area. There are a lot of gold bearing creeks coming off of the lake and you can find public access to them with a little research or I could help you out with the ones I have figured out so far (5 or 6 of them). They are all on ACOE (Army Corps of Engineer)property so it is Pan & Shovel only. First creek I hit I found a couple specks but my second time out I went to a different creek and hit on a bunch of flour gold so I am heading back out in the a.m. to hit it again! If I can help let me know?

Awesome. I'm really looking for somewhere I can camp and stay for the weekend since I live so far away.
