Detector(s) used
ACE 250
next thursday, i will be heading to the beach (Destin, FL) with my wife and parents. I can not wait to detect there. Me, my wife, and dad all have ACE 250's. One day i would like to upgrade to a detector that has ground balancing. Anyway, i will post our finds on here when we get back. Hold me to this now, because i am bad about posting and not responding :-[ ! I take an oath to change this bad habit ;)

Good luck to the three of you and I hope you bring back the gold and silver we're all looking for! HH

Good luck on the beach. The Ace will work fine in the dry sand but may be unstable in the wet stuff. Don't disc. out pull tabs or you will not hear 90% of the gold rings.

Good luck at the beach. WIll be interested in hearing how it preforms.

I was at a good sized creek ( you could probably call it a river ) and tried detecting on the shore. I got what seemed like good signals with My ACE 250 but when I dug, there was nothing there. It looked dry but but as I started to excavate, it got wet real fast. Just false signals.

Have fun.

Which beach are you going to hit? I had pretty good success near Miramar Beach but the whole coastline had something to offer as far as finds go. Good Luck and have fun.

hey guys! thanks for the replys. i will definately try to stay away from the wet sand. we will be staying at the Jetty East (i think that's the name). there is a lot of boat activity there. Not sure of all the details, cause my wife and mother made all the plans. i am so pumped tho! i know i will not sleep at all the night before.

I really would like to hunt late at night and also early in the mornings. is this a good idea? i just don't like a lot of people around when i am detecting. i am way too one track minded. i figured this would be the best time to go. Also, i wander if i should try to get a permit or something.... don't know where to start!

I have to go for now. Thank you all for your advice and encouragement. I will definately be posting some pics!
