Head Teller saved an Ike Proof

I was at my local BOA dumping and the Head Teller asked me if I saved dollar coins too. Said he had an Ike that looked different and asked me if I had a dollar which I dug out as fast as I could and he gave me a 1977 S Ike first one I have ever found or seen besides ones in proof sets. I gave him my card and told him to call if he ever found anything different again. He had it hidden in a drawer and said that he knew I would be in sooner or later. Not silver but, it is in good shape and I don't mind investing a dollar in a coin. Plus it is just nice to know that the teller was thinking about me and would save it for me, I would have bought anything off him just for that reason alone.

This is absolutely the right thing to do. If he saves more coins for you in the future, always buy them all, regardless of what they are. First off, its just common courtesy. Second, if you begin to cherrypick and/or refuse what he has gone to the trouble to save for you, he may very well stop saving anything for you. Third, at the very worst its not like you'll be losing any money no matter what the coins are. If they happen to be coins that you don't want, you can just spend them or cash them in elsewhere. Do everything in your power to keep him cherrypicking for you. I've been CRHing for about 3 years now, and have really good relationships with several tellers in the area. Most know me by name or just simply as "The Coin Guy." However, I do not have a single teller that has volunteered to cherrypick for me.

I have other Tellers that save me halves and one gave me a silver Rosie once but for the most part they don't know what is good. His guy is the Head Teller at the bank that they all sell their coins to and he knows coins. He asks me if I found anything whenever I get to go to his window, today I brought the Barber dime that I found this week and he looked at it and said that it was at least VG not just G because I said it was pretty thin. Here is a picture of the Ike and some of my other recent finds, my last 3 dimes were a Barber and 2 Mercury and 2 Walking Liberty half but I can't find a 40% to save my life.

We should switch places... I can't find a 90% half to save mine! Lol. Great pic, minky! Love it! Nice stuff! You should Nic-a-Date those buffaloes or else soak them in some vinegar and salt to get the dates on those.

nice find minkybodl! gotta love teller scores... i once got a proof ike from a convenient store, but since then they've changed owners and now i get "stared down" when I walk in, not to mention it is a bit creepy to have 4 sets of eyes at you when you walk in to buy a loaf of bread, milk and some eggs... needless to say, i don't go there anymore.

Don't need to find 40% when you can get walkers. Nice dimes too. Great finds Minky.
