I use head phones that I got from Radio Shack on all of my detectors. One pair that I realy like fits them all. Adapters for the jack sizes are included. Just make sure the plug on them is gold plated, and they have seperate volume control for each side and you should be fine. Also don't be too cheap on the price. Get as quality pair as your budget allows.

When you get into ths higher end MD's it is worth investing in better head phones that are made for MD's.

Have to jump in here and make a comment or two...... First I use to build 1/4 inch plugs for the music industry, the same type we detectorist use on headphones. First I want to state that while gold plated plugs are suppose to be a better material for sound quaility, Metal detectors do not posess the capability to generate the type of quaility sound to make this of any conseqence. If it makes you feel better that it has a pretty gold plug than so be it. I will say that even the highest end headphones us detectorist use (Sunray, Grey Ghost, Ratt phones ) All use the cheapest molded plugs available from China! Like the old saying you get what you pay for! I own a few different sets of headphones and the first thing I do any more is cut the existing plug off and replace it with a high end sound plug such as one made here in America like a G&H plug, these are hand made and inexpensive, they will make even the cheapest set of headphones sound better than the best out there......just my 2 cents
